Green Meanie Smoothie

Live Happy …

We can probably all agree by now that what you put into your body you get out of your body – that healthy eating leads to a healthy you, and a happy life! Here is the recipe of my ‘Green Meanie’ smoothie, that gets me fired up for a great workout or just a great day. It’s yummy too, and a great recipe to start with if you’re not currently a smoothie drinker.

Ingredients: (to make 1 large smoothie or 2 small serves)
1x lady finger banana (frozen is best – makes the smoothie cold and creamy)
A handful of baby spinach leaves or green kale (no stems)
Oat milk (or your preferred milk) – enough to fill 3/4 of your smoothie cup/glass
1 heaped tsp of Spirulina or supergreens powder
Optional extras for bonus protein and health benefits: 1 tsp maca powder, 2 tbs of plain yoghurt, plain flavoured or vanilla health food store protein powder.
Optional extras for added sweetness: raw honey to taste (for those with a sweet tooth), 1/2 a mango, or 2-3 dates.
Optional extra for extra creamy texture and healthy fats: 1/2 avocado
Optional toppings: sprinkle of chia seeds, sprinkle of goji berries, or a sprinkle of cocoa nibs for extra crunch!
Method:

Use a blender to whiz all ingredients together, serve immediately – yum!
